HUDSON VALLEY — Builders, construction companies and new home buyers seeking to use propane in new projects are breathing a sigh of relief as New York State put on hold the January 1, 2026 ban on the use of propane in many new construction projects.
The push toward electrification of these projects was a core pillar of the state’s 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The move comes amid mounting concerns over the electric grid reliability, housing costs and legal uncertainty.
